Wellness, Connection & Co-Regulation

A Holistic Approach

Infant feeding and development go hand in hand as do parent and baby wellness. One influences the other. Feeding is a whole body experience and how the body moves influences what happens at the mouth and vice versa. When there is tension in the body, when skills are disorganized or when the nervous system is dysregulated, the feeding experience for baby and parent can suffer. Suddenly, parent stress and anxiety are at new heights, when breastfeeding and bottle feeding are not going well. Overall development and milestone attainment can be impacted, as well as bonding & parent mental health over time. Developmentally supportive play, exercises & positioning can help baby improve movement, release tension, reach milestones and connect parent and baby. Baby bodywork and babywearing can be powerful tools for baby and parent as well. The power of touch can calm, connect and heal.
